Ongoing Programs
Babygarten
Thursdays, February 2 & 16, March 1 & 15 at 10:15 a.m.
This is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to bring their babies (newborn – 24 months) to a library program just for them. Everyone participates in a program that emphasizes sharing books, music, rhymes and playtime together. Older siblings are welcome but the program is geared for babies.
Babygarten Two
Saturdays, February 11 and March 10 at 10:15 a.m.
Join us for this new weekend program designed for newborns to 24 months. Miss Amy will present songs, fingerplays and fun! Hear stories, rhymes, music and enjoy playtime with our toy collection. Older siblings are welcome but the program is geared for babies.
Toddler Town
Wednesdays, February 8 and March 7 at 10:15 a.m.
Miss Amy will lead toddlers in singing and dancing about shapes, colors and other learning concepts. We'll include stories and flannel board activities. This is a perfect program for children not yet ready for Storytime.
Storytimes
Tuesdays or Fridays, January 3 - February 17 at 10:15 a.m.
Resuming February 28 - April 3 (NO Storytime on Friday, April 6)
Our theme-based early literacy programs are multi-age level. You may choose whatever day is most convenient for you. Art activities are part of the program! Just drop in.

Book Discussions for Kids
(The library will be closed except for participants. Parents are welcome. Sign up at the library and pick up a copy of the book. Books are provided by the Friends of the Library.)

Cam Jansen and the Valentine Baby Mystery by David Adler (Book #25 of the Cam Jansen series)
It’s Valentine’s Day at school and Cam and her friends are excited. Cam’s mother is about to give birth. Cam learns that her mother is on the way to the hospital. While Cam and her friend Eric are at the hospital, a robbery takes place and Cam uses her camera-clicking and mystery-solving skills to unravel the clues.

Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea
Mr. Terupt, the new and energetic young teacher, changes the way some of his students regard themselves, others, and learning. When an accident threatens Mr. Terupt's life, blaming begins: Who was responsible for the accident that landed Mr. Terupt in the hospital? A feel good book about seven children, one class, one amazing teacher, and a school year that changes their lives.

Come join librarians Joyce Laiosa and Suzanne Fisher for a family program about Abraham Lincoln. Listen to the Gettysburg Address, share a birthday cake and finish with an art activity to remember our 16th president.

School's Out, Library's In
Jeff Boyer's Bubble Trouble
Monday, February 20, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Jeff Boyer will present a fun-filled science show for the whole family "Bubble Trouble," which is an entertaining and fun combination of comedy, music and interactive bubblemania. It's a hit everywhere there is air! A delightful evening for children and families - come join the fun!
A Celebration of Snow
Tuesday, February 21, 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.
What do marshmallow snowmen, a “snowball” fight, stories about playing in the snow and even making snowflakes all have in common? You’ll find all this fun at the library!
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever
Wednesday, February 22, 10:30 a.m.
Are you experiencing cabin fever? Greg Heffley, in the newest installment of the Wimpy Kid series, sure is! He and his family are trapped inside after a blizzard and Greg doesn't know how much longer he can stand being stuck inside with his wild family! Enjoy a morning of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" trivia, activities, and all-around hilarity! Please register.

KUNG FU PANDA 2
In the Valley of Peace, Po Ping is reveling in his fulfilled dreams as he serves as the fabled Dragon Warrior protecting his home with his heroes now his closest friends. However, Po and company learn that the murderous Lord Shen of Gongman City is threatening the land with a fearsome new weapon that could mean the end of kung fu. Rated: PG; 91 minutes.
Parent-Child Workshops
Mondays, March 12, 19 and 26 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
This is a 3-part series for parents (or caregivers) and their children (ages 0-3 years old). Each week we will have a guest that will speak individually to adults and answer questions while your children play and you enjoy the company other parents. Paws for Reading
Call the library or e-mail Mrs. Brown at gail.brown@voorheesvillelibrary.org for an appointment.
Mrs. Brown is delighted to announce that her golden retriever Duke has passed the Therapy Dogs International® test and is now the official Paws for Reading dog for the library. Duke wants to help children feel good about reading. He loves to listen to books, especially dog books!
(The Paws for Reading program is intended for children in grades 1-5 who feel unsure about his/her reading progress or who just want to practice reading out loud for fluency.)

The Pied Piper of Books blog is a place young people, parents and teachers can visit to learn about great books, curriculum tie-ins, the best DVDs and music CDs from knowledgeable staff of the library.
